Delivery to the following recipients failed

Postby stephen » Mon Sep 01, 2008 9:49 am

Using Exchange Server 2003
pop3 Connector
When send an email to a user I get this email in reply:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

mspop3connector.user@mydomain.com

Reporting-MTA: dns;mail.mydomain2.com.au
Received-From-MTA: dns;mydomain.com
Arrival-Date: Mon, 1 Sep 2008 09:16:20 +1000

Final-Recipient: rfc822;mspop3connector.user@mydomain.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.1.1

Solution.
My solution was to give the user an additional email alias
mspop3connector.user@mydomain.com

Here is some notes I have made in trying to trouble shoot:-

In the Exchange System Manager
in the Recipients
In Recipient Policies there is a policy called mspop3

This link mentions a solution in NS KB Article ID : 885685.
http://forums.techarena.in/small-business-server/399832.htm

Did you only uninstall/re-install Exchange or IIS and Exchange? If you did
IIS you may need to run the following

\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Networking\POP3\imbreg.exe

To re-register the POP3 Connector.

I tried running imbreg.exe and this has not fixed the problem
I turned on maximum event logging for the pop3 connector
and I get this error in the Application event log

Event Type: Information
Event Source: MSExchangeTransport
