In Windows Server 2008 the backup failed with error:

Backup Creation of the shared protection point timed out

In the event log this error shows:-

Backup started at '{b617be25-fc4c-4392-a0ca-2d909bb93d24}' failed as Volume Shadow copy operation failed for backup volumes with following error code '2155348001'.

The backup volume is a USB External hard disk xx-CITR 2009_06_04 16:20 DISK_02 and shows 931 Gb Capacity with 18Gb or 1% Free space
