IIS Log files fill up C: drive

Postby stephen » Sun Jan 31, 2010 6:42 am

My SBS Server 2008 regularly runs out of disk space on C: drive

When I went to check for large files I found that the old Find option in previous versions of Windows is missing so there is no easy way to find large files in server 2008, that I have found yet.

Any way I used the dinosaur method of right clicking on various directories to find their sizes and found that the IIS system had nearly 18Gb of log files,

So I went to c:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1 and the other W3SVC3 and W3SVC144152449 and W3SVC1372222313 and W3SVC1899589246 folders and delete old the old log files and I have now freed up 18Gb of disk space.

Now I need to find out how to manage these log files automatically.
