Default gateway disappears on reboot

Postby stephen » Sun Jun 27, 2010 11:38 am

I have SBS Server 2008 and when I restart the server the default gateway disappears

I found the solution here
http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/SBS_Small_Business_Server/Q_24973941.html
I had the same issue with a "disappearing" default gateway on a new Dell server running SBS 2008. Tech support discovered that the value that stored the default gateway for the network adapter included an unnecessary blank line. Removing this blank space from the registry value resolved the issue for me.

If you add the Regkey "DefaultGateway" with the correct gateway (in HKLM/System/CurretnControlSet/Services/Tcpip/Parameters/Interfaces/%CLSID%), it seem to fix the problem for me. It kept the setting even after a re-boot.

I had three CLSID entries in this location
KLM/System/CurretnControlSet/Services/Tcpip/Parameters/Interfaces/%CLSID%)
one if the DefaultGateway entries had a blank line as the first line, then the gateway ip address on the second line. I removed the blank line to fix the problem.
