How To MOVE CASWIN to New Server

Postby stephen » Tue Jun 29, 2010 3:53 pm

These notes are from the CASWIN Help Article.

BGL software has two parts:
PART 1 - the system software and data (including reinstalling NEXUS)
PART 2 - the workstation/standalone pc/laptop setup

For clients with servers, both must be updated when the software is moved - even if the workstations do not change.

IF YOU HAVE YOUR BGL PRODUCT INSTALLED ON A STANDALONE PC THEN BOTH STEPS MUST BE FOLLOWED AS WELL.

Nexus is installed in C:\Program Files\NEXUS

1. Uninstall Nexus on the old Server
2 Copy The Software and Data from the old Server to the new,
On Our Server Caswin is located in this folder;-
C:\Data\Company\Caswin

(iii) Delete the file nxserver.ini located in each Product folder. ie c:\Data\Company\Caswin

(iv) Delete ALL nxTrans.cfg files located in each Product folder. To find the .cfg files, click on search within each Product folder and type in nxTrans.cfg in our server C:\Data\Company\Caswin\CASDATA

(v)Run the latest software update (setup32.exe) for your software (ie CAS update for CAS; Simple Fund update for Simple Fund) to reinstall nexus on the new server/standalone pc/laptop.Click here to download the update.

Do not run the Nexus update to reinstall nexus. It is only an update and WILL NOT install Nexus.
If you have not deleted nxserver.ini at step (iii) then running the setup32.exe will not install nexus on the new server.
NOTE: The above steps need to be done in order for nexus to be installed on the NEW server/standalone pc/laptop.

On Each Workstation run the CASWIN\NETSETUP\NETSET32.EXE from the new server.
