Missing entries in Device Manager

In XP you may find that all the devices are missing in the device manager
ie the Device Manager has a blank page.

This is because the Plug and Play service is disabled

Go to Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Services

Find the Plug and Play
and make sure it is enabled and started
