I was trying to do a repair install of Windows XP on a HP NC4400 notebook. However after booting from an OEM Windows XP CD the system would give a Blue Screen of Death Stop 0x0000007B ( 0xF7A21524,0xC0000034,0x0,0x0)

The problem was that the driver for the SATA hard drive was not on the Windows XP CD.

What was needed was the Intel SATA AHCI Controller Driver which can be obtained from the HP Web Site

You need to press F6 during windows XP install to have the driver loaded from a floppy disk.
you will need a USB Floppy disk drive, as the NC4400 has no floppy
