I have a PC that after a shutdown, the PC will not start up completely.

The PC hangs at a pale blue screen and the disk activity light just pulses every few seconds.
It does not get to the CTRL ALT DEL screen to login.

You can turn off and restart in safe mode with network and the PC starts fine.

Sometimes from safe mode you can restart OK. Other times you cannot.

One fix is to do a repair install of Windows and the PC starts OK, but after a few days it goes back to the original problem.

The hardware is:-
Intel Motherboard D945GCNL
Hard Drive is a Seagate 250Gb
Memory is 2 x DDR2-667 1Gb
Logitech Internet 1500 Laser Cordless Desktop

I have tried changing motherboards, Hard Disks, Ram.
I eventually tracked down the problem to be the way the Logitech Internet 1500 Laser Cordless Desktop was connected to the PC.

The Cause of the problem

was that I was using the USB connector on the Logitech Internet 1500 Laser Cordless Desktop.
When I shutdown and connected the Logitech Internet 1500 Laser Cordless Desktop into the PS/2 connectors for the Keyboard (using the USB to PS/2 keyboard Adapter) and PS/2 Mouse

The problem went away.
