On Windows XP 64bit edition
The PC has had a problem hard disk and the I have managed to duplicate the disk onto a good disk but now the PC will not boot up.

The PC will not boot comes up with a black screen saying that c:\windows\system32\drivers\msisadrv.sys is missing or corrupt.

I tried to boot off the XP CD and do a repair install on the windows partition, but it does not give an option to repair the damaged partition.

So I tried to use the Recovery Console. Ran chkdsk /R
to repair any corrupt directories but this has not fixed the problem

I booted off the Windows XP 64-bit CD and selected R for Recovery Console

I did a LISTSVC to display all the services found that MSISADRV was set to BOOT

did a
DISABLE MSISADRV
and system said that the state was changed from SERVICE_BOOT_START to SERVICE_DISABLED

When I restarted the PC the next problem was
the boot process stopped saying that VOLMGR.SYS is missing or corrupt

boot to recovery console again
DISABLE VOLMGR.SYS
and system said that the state was changed from SERVICE_BOOT_START to SERVICE_DISABLED

When I restarted the PC the next problem was
the boot process stopped saying that compbatt.sys is missing or corrupt

I reinstalled another copy of Windows XP 64-bit on this PC and it works fine.
If I check with recovery console the services that start on boot up I do not see a reference to MSISADRV.SYS
So I do not know why MSISADRV.SYS is used at all.
