network drive no files showing

network drive no files showing

Postby stephen » Thu Mar 26, 2009 9:51 am

I have a PC connexted to a Windows 2003 server domain.

When they login they open the Z: drive which is a mapped network drive on the server but there are no files showing on this network drive.

The fix is to remove the PC from the domain and then rejoin the PC to the domain server.

to do this
1st make sue you have a local pc user account login and password with administrator rights.
2nd Remove computer from Domain and join the Workgroup
restart
3rd Remove computer from Workgroup and join the domain.

click
Start
right click My Computer
Properties
Computer Name
and tick Workgroup and enter a workgroup name
when prompted for a login and password use the servers administrator login and password
OK
restart PC
When PC reboots login with a local PC user account with administrator rights
and repeat the Computer Name change this time tick DOMAIN and enter the domain name
click OK
and restart

PC the above is also the fix when your PC seems to hang at Applying Computer Settings when logging in to a domain.
