screen freezes saying ATI2vag file problem

This could be a problem with the ATI display driver.
Download the latest driver and install.
The latest driver can be found at the ati web site

http://www.ati.com

For my video card the ATI RADEON X600 Pro , I downloaded the driver from

https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27

It contains two downloads the first directs to Microsofts web site to get the lates Microsoft.Net software and the second part of the download is the ATI driver.

Followup to above.
I applied the updated driver, but the user reported the problem was still occuring, so I replaced the video Card. and so far all is well.
