No Audio Device

No Audio Device

Windows XP when try to run the Windows Media Player says no Audio Device
I TRIED THIS BUT DID NOT FIX
I had tried changing the BIOS settings, to enable on board sound, reinstalled the motherboard sound device driver but these did not work.
I also went into the
"Start"-\"control Panal"-\"Administrative Tools"-\"Component Services". Services area and checked if the Windows Audio device was set to Autorun and that it was started, which it was.

SOLUTION
My solution was to install a new sound card and ignore the sound system integrated on the motherboard.
I installed a Createive Sound Blaster Live card.

Then I had to go into control panel
pick the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties
Click on the Audio Tab
Change the Default Devices in the drop downs to select the newly installed Audio Card.
